Scalextric RMS software quit working.... suggestions?

I purchased the Circuit 4 Sport RMS set a few days ago. Set it up.
Hooked up the RMS cable. Installed the software from CD. Downloaded
the most recent patch from Scalextric's website.

The RMS software worked just fine for about two races. It recorded
both lanes' activities. But then it stopped recording. The blue
button starts the race or qualifying session, but the cars' progess is
not measured.

Can anyone offer a suggestion? It appears that the connection is
still present, as the blue button on the track box starts the
software. I get no error messages fromt he software.

It stopped wotking after I printed out some of the track
configurations. I have rebooted the computer since.

Operating system is XP Home.

Continued to fiddle today and got the "Race" mode to work just fine.
But the "Practice/Qualifying" mode will not track the car laps.

Any clues?

I suggest you use Pc Lap counter, this lap timer program work with
Scalextric RMS detector with a precision of 0.001 and have more
functionnality.
